One-way Quarantine-free from New Zealand to Australia started last 1 November 2021
One-way quarantine-free travel from New Zealand to participating jurisdictions in Australia started last 1 November 2021. To be eligible, travellers must:
- Present a negative COVID-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test result taken three days before departure.
- Provide evidence of full vaccination with a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised vaccine unless they are medically exempt or under 12 years of age.
- Provide a declaration of having only been in either Australia or New Zealand for 14 days before the day of travel.
Travellers must also complete an Australia Travel Declaration (ATD) at least 72 hours before departure.
All travellers who have been in either Australia or New Zealand for 14 days prior can travel by air between Australia and New Zealand without the need to apply for a travel exemption.
Travellers must meet all other entry requirements for Australia, including immigration, customs and biosecurity clearance.
Quarantine-free travel does not apply to New Zealand citizens who are outside New Zealand or who have not been in New Zealand for the 14 days immediately before the proposed travel to Australia.
States and territories are responsible for determining and managing quarantine arrangements.
