Changes were introduced in late 2020 or early 2021 to support Prospective Marriage (Subclass 300) visa holders, former visa holders and visa applicants unable to enter Australia due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.
The new English language requirement will apply to primary and secondary Partner visa applicants aged 18 to retirement age and sponsors who are permanent residents.
The Department of Home Affairs announced last 18 August 2021 the updated travel restrictions and exemptions, which states that the Prospective Marriage (subclass 300) visa holders and those who applied for subclass 300 visas for at least twelve months before applying for travel exemption are NOW ELIGIBLE FOR TRAVEL EXEMPTION.
