Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa - Subclass 494
Employer Sponsored Stream
It allows regional employers to address the labour shortages by bringing in skilled workers where employers cannot source a suitably skilled Australian worker within their region.
Employer Sponsored Stream requirements
- Must nominate an occupation listed on the Medium and Long-term Strategic List or Regional Occupation List
- Must have at least 3 years relevant working experience in the nominated occupation or related field
- Must have a positive Skilled Assessment assessed by the relevant authority
- Must work only for your sponsor or associated entity, unless exemptions imply to your circumstances
- Must be under 45 years old, unless exemptions imply to your circumstances
- Must have at least a Competent English (eg. IELTS at least minimum 6 each band)
How much it will cost
The visa (government) fee starts from AUD4,640.
Stay duration
The applicant can stay for five years in Australia.

On average, the processing time takes 12 to 14 months. Circumstances vary on the action done in the Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa (Subclass 494) application.
Being Employer Sponsored Stream visa holder
- Work, live and study for 5 years in the designated regional areas in Australia

- May apply for permanent residence after 3 years from the time the visa is granted

Subsequent Entrant
It allows a member of a family unit of a visa holder of Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (SESR) (Provisional) visa (Subclass 494) to apply for separate SESR visa and would like to join the primary Subclass 494 or SESR visa holder in Australia.

- Must be a member of a family unit of a primary Subclass 494 or SESR visa holder.

The applicant can stay for five years in Australia.
