Qantas sets ready as Australia pushes towards its target 80% vaccination by the end of this year

Qantas is preparing for the resumption of the international flights this mid-December 2021, with the plans linked to the vaccination target of 80% in Australia, which will set off the gradual reopening of the international borders.

As of 12 September, 67.8% of people age 16 have at least one dose and the fully vaccinated age 16 is at 42.6%, based on the Australian Government Department of Health announcement. The increasing numbers are positively aligned to the agreed National plan “Four-Phase Plan” of the  National Cabinet to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic situation and the country’s reopening to international visitors.

Targets of the government plan are near to come as the continuous and increasing vaccination activity occurs in the eight states of Australia. The marking of 80% is on our reach.

The preparation of Qantas includes the following:

  • From mid-December 2021, Qantas flights would begin from Australia to COVID-safe destinations. Countries are most likely to be classified as low-risk for vaccinated travellers to visit and return with fewer quarantine conditions, pending decisions by the Australian Government and entry policies of other countries. Probably it includes countries such as Canada, Fiji, Japan, Singapore, United Kingdom, and the United States.*
  • Sale Flights between Australia and New Zealand from mid-December 2021. Suppose that some or all borders between the two countries will reopen.*
  • From April 2022, the rest of Qantas international network is planned to open up.*

*subject to Government and Regulatory approval.
